Health Coach Supervision

Mission
I have enjoyed regular supervision since I first qualified as a coach in 2018 and feel very grateful for the variety of types of support I have received over the years. From opportunities to reflect on specific issues relating to complex clients, to themes that emerge over time, to personal and business support and more, every session has offered me the chance to pause and think in a way that is unique to a coach / supervisor relationship.
As Health Coaches we are privileged to support clients on their personal journeys towards better health. We also work in ever-changing and sometimes challenging environments and at times can feel isolated in our practice. Individual or Group Supervision gives us the opportunity to explore new perspectives and learn from our own reflections and those of our peers and supervisor, enhancing our ability to do our best coaching work. It also demonstrates commitment to high professional standards.
Having benefitted from great supervision throughout my coaching career I love working as a Health Coach Supervisor and passing on this opportunity to others.
Vision
My background is as an NHS GP and since 2019 I have worked solely as a health, personal and professional coach, running a small practice from my home in Cornwall. I am a registered Health Coach with UKIHCA, verified NHSE Tier 3 Health Coach and a diplomate of the British Society of Lifestyle Medicine. I am a qualified Health Coach Supervisor and have applied to be on the UKIHCA list of recommended supervisors.
I am a co-founder of the Kernow (Cornwall) Lifestyle Medicine Group and regularly teach on lifestyle topics.
I enjoy working with Health and Wellbeing Coaches at all career stages and offer a safe and confidential space to which you are welcome to bring any topic related to your practice and your personal growth. I like the definition of supervision as being formative (learning and progressing) normative (ensuring our practice is safe and aligns with recognised standards) and restorative (looking after ourselves) and therefore supportive of whatever you need to help you to work at your best.
I offer web-based individual and group (max 6) supervision sessions and can be flexible about dates and times.

Testimonials
“It was great to experience both 1:1 sessions with Alison and a group supervision session too. Alison made me feel very comfortable and having that time and space to just talk about what I was experiencing in my coaching role was really helpful as things came up that I didn't expect; I was then able to problem solve with Alison's guidance. I came away from the 1:1 sessions with a list of practical actions to implement in my coaching sessions right away. Alison ensured that the session was all about my experiences, but I found it useful to also gain some knowledge from Alison too as she's well informed about coaching in Cornwall and in particular health coaching. The group supervision was interesting, and it was great to learn a group coaching structure as I was then able to use this in my own group coaching sessions. The session flowed well with Alison guiding us. I like Alison's calm and reflective way of holding coaching sessions and I hope to carry this into my practice too”
